Keurig K200 vs K250: What's The Difference?

Keurig is the leader in single serve coffee systems, selling over 11 million machines in 2015 alone.

Though most of those sales are from a dozen or so flagship models, there are many more models the company offers.

Actually, Keurig has produced over 80 different models since the company’s inception.

It’s true.

With so many different models it can be hard telling them all apart. Sometimes the differences are incredibly small.

One such example is the Keurig K200 vs K250.

If you’re deciding between these two models, then you’re in the right place.

These models are the exact same machine.

Wait, how can that be true? How could Keurig possibly give the exact same machine two different model numbers.

The difference is in the accessories.

The Keurig K250 comes with 2 things the K200 doesn’t:

  1. 1 extra charcoal filer (total of 2)
  2. Descaling solution

That’s it.

Final Thoughts the Keurig K200 vs K250

There are a couple notable things about the K200 and K250.

First, though these models are K-Carafe compatible, they don’t actually come with the carafe. That has to be purchased separately. You can choose either plastic or thermal stainless steel.

Second, the 40 oz water reservoir is merely mediocre by Keurig’s standards and represents five 8-oz servings. Similar models have much larger water reservoirs:

  • K300 series has a 60 oz reservoir
  • K400 series has a 70 oz reservoir
  • K500 series has an 80 oz reservoir

About The Coffee Maven

Bryan De Luca

I'm Bryan but most people know me as The Coffee Maven. I grew up outside Boston, Massachusetts and received my Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Providence College. My first introduction to coffee was during my college days, when I used it as a source of caffeine to fuel late-night study sessions, but soon I became obsessed with the chemistry of coffee. How did changes to water temperature or contact time affect its taste? Why do beans from Africa taste fruity while beans from Indonesia taste spicy? I launched The Coffee Maven in February 2017 to explore these questions and help others brew their perfect cup. Welcome to my site, and thanks for reading!
