What's the difference between Keurig's B series and K series brewers?

Answer: Nothing. The switch from B to K was solely a marketing decision as the company realized branding their brewers with a K made more sense. (They're called Keurig, after all.)

The B45 is part of Keurig's flagship B40 series. Currently discontinued, it was replaced by the K40 series.

In turn, the K40 series was rebranded as the K50 series, and eventually the B40s, K40s, and K50s were all discontinued and replaced by the K-Classic, which offers many of the features you'll find on B40/K40/K50 brewers:

  • 48 oz reservoir
  • No Strength Control or Temp Control
  • Auto-On/Off functionality and removable drip tray
  • No pod-scanning system (found on Keurig 2.0 brewers) so it's compatible with all types of K-Cups

There are just two major differences between the B40/K40/K50 brewers and the K-Classic:

  • The K-Classic's slightly expanded brew sizes (6, 8, and 10 oz)
  • Its upgraded brewing system that ensures you're brewing with Keurig's latest and greatest technology for hotter, stronger cups

Is Keurig B45 for you?

The discontinued B45/K45 is still worth purchasing if you can get a good deal. It doesn't have any outdated tech that limits its usability and is still a quality model if you don't mind losing the 6 oz brew size.

However, we really do recommend going with the K-Classic, which is currently in production, supported by Keurig, and has all of the features you'd find on K40-K55 brewers.
