Nespresso Lattissima Touch Overview

Nespresso has two lines of capsule-based espresso machines:

  • OriginalLine: Their original line (duh) that used a 19 bar pump to extract shots from capsules
  • VertuoLine: Their new line that uses Centrifusion (rapid capsule spinning) to extract shots from barcode-enabled capsules but also brews standard coffee up to 17 oz

For our money, OriginalLine machines are better than VertuoLine machines because their pump produces more authentic espresso, the coffee tends to be hotter, and there's no barcode scanning system meaning you can find less-expensive third-party capsules.

For our money, OriginalLine machines are better than VertuoLine machines because their pump produces more authentic espresso, the coffee tends to be hotter, and there's no barcode scanning system meaning you can find less-expensive third-party capsules.

And among OriginalLine machines, there are 2 series that stand above all others:

  • Lattissima machines with integrated frothers that brew specialty beverages with the push of a single button
  • Creatista machines with integrated frothing wands for a more manual frothing experience, as if you were a true barista

The Lattissima One is part of that first series (obviously), which is made up of 5 different models:

We'll compare all 5 models in our Buyer's Guide below.

The Lattissima Touch is the mid-range Lattissima model with 6 pre-programmed beverages, a 44 oz water reservoir, and 12 oz milk container for up to 3 specialty drinks.

Pros

  • Actual pump pressure is better than VertuoLine Centrifusion
  • Integrated one-touch milk frother makes specialty beverages easily
  • Solid internal construction means it won't break down quickly
  • Can used 3rd-party capsules

Cons

  • Stated 19 bars is inconsistent
  • ABS plastic scuffs a little easily

The Lattissima Touch is a great compromise between cost and features. It has the largest water reservoir of all Lattissima models (44 oz) and a solid 12 oz milk container for multi-beverage brewing, but the downside is just 6 preset brew sizes.

If you want a little more milk container capacity and the top-of-the-line digital touchscreen display, go with the Lattissima Pro.

If you want the most preset beverages, go with the Gran Lattissima's 9 presets.

If you want the option to have manual control over your frothing, you'll want to check out one of the 3 Creatista Series machines.
